This site is a collaborative venture intended as a gateway to information about suicide prevention in Nebraska. The Nebraska Suicide Prevention Project is seeking people willing to bring the voice of Suicide Survivors to all aspects of the project. A Suicide Survivor for this project is anyone who has been personally impacted by the suicide of a young person or someone who attempted suicide as a young person and survived. Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Summit

On Friday, January 29th, the Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Coalition held the annual Suicide Prevention Summit. The event was hosted by BryanLGH West Conference Center in Lincoln, and 25 sites across the state participated via videocast through the Nebraska Statewide Telehealth Network. The goal of the event was to provide an overview of suicide as a public health concern in Nebraska, present opportunities to discuss local needs related to suicide prevention, and featured an introduction to best practices in suicide prevention. Funding Opportunities - Winter 2010

Nebraska Community Suicide Prevention Grants:

The Nebraska Youth Suicide Prevention Project is pleased to announce an opportunity for community-based groups in Nebraska to apply for grants of $1,000 - $5,000 to implement practices to prevent suicide among youth up to age 24. Of particular interest are community projects focusing on youth at high risk for suicide. In this project high risk youth is defined as youth involved in multiple systems, minority youth and youth in transition to adulthood, including young returning veterans.

Congratulations to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for receiving a State Youth Suicide Prevention Grant from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within the US Department of Health and Human Services.
